Humans of Marketing Society -- Caroline

March 1st, 2021

By: Rachel Liu

"It was in China. I had gone back to visit my grandparents. The thing about looking Asian but not actually being from China, is that the people who live there can usually tell. But there was this one man who asked me and my sister in broken Chinese where he was. He was so shocked when we replied in English. We ended up taking him the whole way to where he needed to go. We were visitors ourselves, so we had to ask other strangers for directions. It just sticks out in my mind because everyone usually just puts their head down and walks, and, you know, if you don’t know where you’re going you can figure it out yourself, I don’t have time. But we took him where he needed to go and he ended up telling us his whole life story on the way. I think he was from Kansas. Anyways, it was very wholesome."
